Description:
An archaic name used to distinguish it from the mass-produced hand grenades left over from before the Crash. a grenado is a hand-held black powder explosive device meant for antipersonnel use. They are relatively easy to make; a casing (ideally metal, but pottery shells are cheaper and more common) is filled with gunpowder and something (nails, marbles, ball-bearings, gravel) to serve as shrapnel. The opening in the casing is sealed to prevent spillage, with a fuse extending out of it. To use the grenado, light the fuse and throw it at the enemy. On detonating, the grenado will throw shrapnel in a radius and create a cloud of smoke due to the crude gunpowder used in its construction. A grenado can also be used to destroy relatively weak barriers (such as wooden doors) if detonated directly against them. A grenado could be made in any shape, but most are round or oval for ease of throwing and will look a bit like the bombs in old cartoons or the board game "Stratego".
